So how does the new comment functionality work with your Commentor extension?  Can we continue to use it or is it not needed any more?

It is part of the core functionality now, you don't need and can safely uninstall/disable Commentor. Setting comment moderation to "auto" and enabling Akismet filter in 1.6 gives you same result - and more.

Hi Ruslan,

great work, but I have three question

on my installation, comment manager don't work properly (I suppose ;-) ).

1) Add to white list, don't work (with 1 comment to be approved). Why ?
2) Add to black list, don't work (with 1 comment to be rejected). Why ?
3) Where is the configuration panel of StopForumSpam and how it works ?

Adding to the list do not add to the filter (it probably should and likely will change). The way it works, if user has published n comments, his comments will be approved without passing to Akismet and similar with black list. You would have to have comment marked as spam to be rejected by that rule. StopForumSpam is a custom filter, I'll blog about custom filters, hopefully this weekend.

Another question: every checkbox to activate the custom filter is disabled. It's normal ? In this way, how I can deactivate StopForumSpam ?

Yes, it is ok. You can enable/disable filter only if it is implemented as extension. I'm working on Wiki doc to clear these things up for everybody, let me know if you got suggestions how to make it better - I suck in documenting:

BE 1.6 is great- especially the comment system- my terrible spam problem is over now.
HOWEVER!  BE 1.6 did break the theme I was using (the original "arthemia" - other new themes work), and I am unable to get it to display summary text for my blog posts- now I only get "[More]".  Any ideas on getting arthemia to work again with 1.6?
Thanks!

Search your theme for this line of code:
PostViewBase postView = (BlogEngine.Core.Web.Controls.PostViewBase)LoadControl(path);

It should be in 3 places. Immediately after add this:
postView.DescriptionCharacters = BlogSettings.Instance.DescriptionCharacters;

It should fix it for you.

Hi Erle, There is a difference between spam and getting backlink. Normally I allow people to drop link if they make worthwhile comment. Not something like "this post is awsome" or "you made my day" kinda oneliner. Having said, I find blogengine has been spammed to death even now

Blogengine is really great and its quite good to use for blog sites, navigation is easy and would really make you inspired to write on the blog you have.

I am so happy to see a newer version of blogengine.  being able to see the Referrer Data longer than seven days is a great benefit.
